2015 BOOKISH WRAP UP

2015 was a roller coaster ride when it comes to my personal life. It wasn't as good as 2014, but I'm happy I got through all the tough times.

So, this year...

  • I completed my Goodreads reading goal which was to read 100 books. I actually started with a "Read 50 books" goal, but I was way ahead and I decided to change it to a hundred. (I read a total of 102 books).
  • I wanted to post more here on my blog than the previous year and I did.
  • I read a lot of books in a genre I'm not familiar with. (BECAUSE OF SCHOOL XD)
  • I still spent a lot on books.
  • I started borrowing books from the library.
  • I was in a reading slump for almost four months.
  • I read a lot of ebooks.
  • I wrote more reviews, but never enough.
  • I almost completed the Popsugar 2015 Reading Challenge.
  • I started filming booktube videos, but it's so embarassing I stopped doing it. hahaha

This week's wrap-up/ UPDATE

Hello readers!
This week wasn't a big reading week, I only read one book because I was back in a reading slump just right at the end of the booktube-a-thon last week. However, I really enjoyed that one novel I read and I gave it a 5/5 stars. It is called 'Off The Page' by Jodi Picoult and Samantha Van Leer. I wrote a review on it on Goodreads. Click here to check it out.

I posted my tbr pile for the bout of books 14.0 yesterday and I don't know if I'm going to complete all the challenges I gave myself. Also, I will probably change my mind on some books and read other books than the ones in the list. That always happens to me during read-a-thons. Believe it or not guys, I love read-a-thons, but I'm not really good at it. Although, even if I fail each time, I keep on participating hahaha.

Anyways, have a nice weekend and I'll talk to you guys in my next post (:

BOOKTUBE-A-THON WRAP UP!

Hey readers!
So, I was trying to film a video, but I sounded so awkward every time. I'm just going to write a post about the book I read this past week because I'm better at writing than talking anyways. haha

On day 1 of the booktubeathon, I reread Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout and three short stories from the Grimm's Complete Fairytales. Reading those complete three challenges:

- Read a book with blue on the cover (Obsidian)
- Read a book by an author who shares the same first letter of your last name (Jennifer L. Armentrout)

- Read a book without letting go of it (Three short fairytales ;)

I also read Twilight Vol. 1 & 2 Graphic Novels. I read them in one sitting, so that also completes the challenge: Read a book without letting go of it.

Then finally, I read The Edge Of Never by J.A. Redmerski and I LOVED IT SO MUCH! It completes the challenge: Read a book you really want to read. This book was amazing and I gave it a 5/5 stars on Goodreads. I'm thinking of writing a review on it here on my blog.

Sadly, I didn't complete all the challenges, but I'm glad I read at least 5ish books in one week.

I hope everyone had a wonderful booktubeathon!!!

That's it for now (:

WEEKLY WRAP-UP!

Hello readers,
This week, I managed to finish three books.

The first book that I finished reading was City Of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare. This is the fourth book of the Mortal Instruments series. I didn't give a 5/5 stars like the previous books, but I gave it a 4.5/5, which is still pretty good. There were just a few things that annoyed me while reading it and that's why I couldn't give it a perfect score.

The second book that I finished was I Want It That Way by Ann Aguirre. This is a new adult novel that talks about a college student who falls in love with the single dad who lives downstairs. I really liked the plot and that's the reason why I actually read it, but there were some scenes where I just speed read. I gave this book a 3/5 stars.

The third book I read was Think & Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. This is a business book and I learned a lot from it. I definitely recommend it to anyone. Since I finished this before the #TBRTAKEDOWN 2.0 readathon, I will be reading Pride & Prejudice for the challenge 'Read a book that is out of your comfort zone'.

So, that's my wrap up for this week. Thank you for reading (:

WRAP-UP & TBR

Hello readers,
I'm sorry for the late post. I haven't finished a lot of books this past week. After I finished reading City Of Glass by Cassandra Clare, I've been in a book hangover. I wasn't capable of reading anything else. So, I started reading City Of Fallen Angels, the fourth book of the Mortal Instruments series and for some reason I kept putting it down at first. Now, I can read it, but I'm taking my time because I don't have the next book with me yet.

I'm also in a book buying ban since July 4th, 2015 and I don't want to purchase any books for at least the end of the month. I'm just borrowing the Cassandra Clare books from a friend and she is currently on the other side of the world and won't be back until August.

I read a little bit of Grey by E.L James, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen and tried to start reading The Kiss Of Deception by Mary E. Pearson, but like I said I was in a book hangover.

Oh, and I totally forgot, I also read the Panty Whisperer by Sloane Howell, a novella that's actually free on Amazon. It was a quick read that's why I manage to finish it in less than an hour. Here's my review on it | GOODREADS | if you want to check it out.

Thank you for passing by

Weekly Wrap-Up!

Hello readers,
First of all, I apologize for not posting this past week's wrap-up yesterday. Second, I wanted to tell you guys that I just became a total FAN of the Mortal Instruments series! I'm so ashamed of myself for not reading the books earlier when everyone was talking about it! #shameonmebigtime

Here are the books I 've read this past week:

1. Monday and Tuesday, I finished reading the first book of the Mortal Instruments series and I LOVED IT! I did start reading this book in french last year, but I wasn't really into it, so I didn't bother finishing the book. (Yes, I regret it now)

It was probably because I wasn't really in the mood to read Fantasy/paranormal books or maybe not...

Anyways, this book was awesome! If you haven't read it yet, I recommend you to do so because you're definitely missing an awesome story.

2. Wednesday, I started reading this beauty and finished reading it around one in the morning on Thursday. This is the book of the month of July in the Bookish Beauties Book Club on Goodreads.

This was entertaining and I really like the cover especially the colors. Although, I liked the beginning of this book, I felt really bad and guilty for Gemma. At the end, I didn't like her character at all as well as her 'ex' best friend Hallie. They were cruel and childish for doing such things to each other. However, I really like the other characters like Sophie and Josh. If you like reading about characters taking revenge, then you should read this one.

3. On Thursday, after I finished reading Broken Hearts, Fences and Other Things To Mend, I started reading Pride and Prejudice. I read about 65 pages that day and I was actually enjoying it. The reason why I put it down is because I started reading City Of Ashes, the second book of the Mortal Instruments series.

I will continue on reading this classic tomorrow and hopefully finish it before Wednesday because this book is actually part of my #monthlongreadathon Week II and the second week ends on Wednesday, so I will need to finish this book by then.

4. On Friday, Saturday and today, I continued and finished reading City Of Ashes. I gave this book a 5/5 stars rating on Goodreads because I enjoyed it so much besides the fact that Clary's decisions pissed me off. I still have so many questions and I hope to find answers in the third book of the series called City Of Glass that I started reading today. I'm only 10 pages in but I will continue on reading it later.

***P.S.
For the second week of the #monthlongreadathon, I changed my tbr pile again in case you were wondering. ***

That's it for this wrap-up, let me know if you're planning on reading one of the books I've mentioned in this book or what you think  about them.

Thanks for reading (:

Rochelle

Weekly Wrap-Up!

1. P.S. I Still Love You by Jenny Han

I gave this book a 5/5 stars!!!!!!
It was really good. I enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed the first book (To All The Boys I've Loved Before)  If you want to read my review on the first book click here --> REVIEW

I couldn't ask for a better ending of this duology. I'm not entirely sure if it's a two books series, but if Ms. Jenny Han decides to write another book, I would be delighted to read it.

Totally recommend it to everyone who loved the first book and to all readers who love YA contemporary romances.

2. When You're Back by Abbi Glines

I gave this book a 2/5 stars.

This is the first Abbi Glines book that I didn't enjoy reading. I've always loved her books, but this one annoyed the crap out of me. *sorry for the language*

I felt like it's always the same pattern in her last couple of books in this series and I'm a little annoyed because I wanted to read something different and not always the same things all over and over again.

I really hope her next book will be better and different from the others.

If you want to read my review on Reese and Mase's first book click here --> REVIEW

3. Breaking A Legend by Sarah Robinson

I got this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed it, it was good. I gave it a 3.75/5 stars. My review is now on Goodreads. If you want to check it out click here

Weekly Wrap Up!

This week, I read a lot of books, but only finished two.

3/5 stars
This was given to me (via Netgalley) in exchange for an honest review.

It talks about a woman who got her heart broken by her ex-fiancée and best friend. Since then, she swore she won't ever date a CEO ever again... Not until she laid her eyes on Jake Royale who introduced himself as Macon. It was hard to get into it, but once I've reach the half of the book, it started to get a little bit more interesting. It's very easy to read because it's short and fast-paced. Although, I didn't connect to any of the characters in this book. I love that it's fast-paced, but the romance was happening way too fast in a very unrealistic way.
Overall, this was a nice read.
3/5 stars
So, after reading the first book which is called "Collide", I really wanted to pick up this book because the first one ended in a cliffhanger. I have to be honest though, I'm so disappointed with how Emily and Gavin's story continued. It became so cheesy and uncomfortable to read. Their dialogues were so unrealistic. I mean, I get it, a lot of new adult books have that sort of sweet, perverted, romantic dialogues, but in this book there were so many and I think there was a part where it lasted about two pages. I had to stop reading several times and breathe. Despite all of those negative facts, I still enjoyed many scenes in the book, especially the ending and that's why I gave it a 3/5 stars. I was just expecting a way better sequel considering how great the first book was.

This week, I also read The Edge Of Never by J.A Redmerski, Grey by E.L. James, City Of Bones by Cassandra Clare  and The Conspiracy Of Us by Maggie Hall, but didn't finish any of them.

Weekly & Monthly Wrap Up!?

This week:
I read To Breathe Again by Dori Lavelle, it's the third and final book of the Learning To Live Again Series. I absolutely loved how Shaun and Kelsey's love story ended. My review is on Goodreads and Amazon if you'd like to read it.

I finally finished reading Prodigy by Marie Lu and I felt my heart broke after reading it. I also started Champion but I haven't finished reading it yet.

The third book I read this week was Losing it by Cora Carmack and it was PERFECTLY INCREDIBLE, AMAZING, FUNNY, CUTE, SWEET! I LOVED IT! I'm hoping to post my review as soon as I can this week.

This month:
I read seven books: Le Survenant (The worst book I've ever read for school and you know what? I failed my exam), Royally Lost (My review), Frostfire (Hopefully I can post my review this week as well), Entangle (My review), Prodigy (review coming soon) & Losing it (review coming soon).

Saturday: Weekly Wrap-Up!

I finally finished reading this book. My exam was postponed for next Tuesday. I really had a hard time reading this book and I don't know how well or how bad I'm going to do on my exam. I just hope I'll pass. I started reading some books I have to review but I haven't finished any. This week, I focused more on "Le Survenant" and school work.

I can't wait for next Friday, the 13th!!! I'm going to watch FIFTY SHADES OF GREY with my girlfriends. I read the books and the first book was a little traumatizing since it was the first erotic novel I've read, but the last two books were awesome.

That's about it for this week. I know my week seemed really boring but I hope I can read more next week.

Have a nice weekend.

UPDATES & Weekly Wrap-Up!

Hey everyone,
I hope you're all having a great time. I just wanted to announce that I won't be doing "Favorite Quotes" every Friday anymore. The reason is that I don't think it's necessary since I include my favorite quotes in my book reviews most of the time. I'm also really busy with exams and books I have to read for review. Hopefully I'll do well in my upcoming evaluations so I won't feel guilty reading books.

This week I haven't read much because I've been studying. If I wasn't studying I was thinking too much about not getting stuff done on time.

Next week will be even more tough with three big exams and one mini-test. I'll also post my review of Her Gaze by Angel A. next Thursday, an ARC I received.

I honestly can't wait for February to come!

xx

AUGUST 2014 WRAP UP!

  • First, I read Rush too far by Abbi Glines. My review
  • Then I read How to love by Katie Cotugno. My review
  • I also read On the rocks by Sawyer Bennett on my Ipad. My review
  • I finally finished reading Allegiant by Veronica Roth. It was ok. I cried a lot like most of the people who have read it. It's not my favorite book of the series but I didn't hate it.
  • I read Sadie by E.L Todd and It was fine. If I had to give it a rating, I would give it a 3/5 stars. It's not a YA novel and it contains a lot of sexual scenes.
  • My FAVORITE books in this august wrap up are Twisted Perfection & Simple Perfection by Abbi Glines. My review on Twisted Perfection  My review on Simple Perfection
  • Then, I read The beginning of everything by Robyn Schneider. This novel was absolutely amazing. I highly recommend it to all readers who loves John Green & Rainbow Rowell. My review
  • FOUR by Veronica Roth was very interesting. I really enjoyed reading Four's story.
  • Isla and the happily ever after was so fun to read. I loved it and I gave it a 5/5 stars. I loved Josh so so much. My review
  • I read Opposition  by Jennifer L. Armentrout after that. I was satisfied with ending and I'm going to miss a lot of characters. I really love the Lux series and I can't wait to read more of Jennifer L. Armentrout's books.
  • I read Breathe by Abbi Glines and I liked it. I'm not a big fan though because of the love triangle. If you didn't know yet. I hate love triangles especially when you love both guys or when the guy you're rooting for doesn't end up with the girl. My review
  • Finally I read The Ring & The Crown and I really didn't expect to really like this book. Melissa De La Cruz' s writing is stunning and the story is very interesting in my opinion. My review
