Nanowrimo & other things

Hi,
Things has been really hectic this past few days, I don't know how I'm still alive. On the positive note, I started writing Eventide (My story for Nanowrimo) and I have a beginning that could potentially be something bigger, but I am not planning on continuing it anytime soon, due to finals (of course). With that said, I won't be continuing Nanowrimo for the second year in a row. I also started to write this other story when I didn't have much inspiration for Eventide. I'm really proud of it and will continue writing whenever I can.

I kind of wish I wrote a book review on A Court of Thorns & Roses, I don't remember why I didn't and I regret it. I'm going to start reading the sequel which is huge by the way. It's the only book I'm planning on reading for the #TomeTopple Readathon and also for the rest of the semester.

I'm going to start setting up goals for next year. I know I don't always complete all those goals/challenges, but I'll make a list anyway.

That's it for now,

Reading(s)

Currently reading:

  • The Lord of the Rings (Almost done with the Fellowship of the Ring)
  • The Awakening by Kate Chopin
  • Wold Girl and Black Prince Vol. 5
  • Folk & Fairy Tales

I'm really liking TLOTR, but I wish I could take my time reading it because there is so much info. Right now, I have to rush a little bit because I have an essay and an exam on the first book soon. It's so annoying!!!

One thing that bothers me is that every time I read, I always think about the movie and what's even more annoying is when some of the characters I like in the book are not in the movies (e.g. Tom Bombadil and Glorfindel) Another thing that bothers me is that Frodo is old in the book and in the movies, he is young (It's not really a major spoiler, but if it is for you, I let you to get mad at me rn). Overall, it's really interesting.

My prof said that The Awakening is a "page turner". I don't completely disagree because the chapters in this book are relatively short which is GOOD, but it's not a page turner for me. After I read a chapter, I'm not curious to find out what's going to happen next because I find it kind of predictable. Based on the introduction talking about Kate Chopin's life and how the main character in the book is, I kind of knew what's to come. Nevertheless, I don't hate this book at all.

Wolf Girl and Black Prince, I just don't have much time for it which sucks because I really want to finish this series. I already finished watching the entire anime, but I want to read all volumes too. Hopefully SOOON!

I'm currently on the Sleeping Beauty part of this fairy tale book and I'm loving it. Sleeping Beauty is not my favourite princess, but after reading all these different versions, I had this great idea earlier today that I want to write my own version. I think I'm going to write that during Nanowrimo. Yeah? Yes.

I'm back?

Hey guys!
Ah, I've missed blogging. I know it's been only a few months since my last post, but I feel like it's been forever.

Before making the decision to start blogging again, I considered switching into wordpress. I've had an account there for a while, but I still can't figure out how to use it. So, I'm just going to stay with blogger.

I have new review copies and I still have the old ones. I do plan on reading and reviewing them, I just don't know when. I am also going to participate in Nanowrimo again and I'm so pumped!

I just want to keep myself busy.

I also miss blogging in general and reading review copies, participating in blog tours, reviewing books, etc.

Over the last few months, my reading tastes changed quite a bit. I started reading mangas and I really find them entertaining. I also bought the Harry Potter box set if I didn't tell you guys already. So far this year, I've read a lot of classics, more than I expected and I've been so into Historical Fiction too.

I'm happy that I got to read outside my comfort zone over the past few months. I'm looking forward to posting more here. Stay tuned!

Have a great week!

WELL...

So, my blog is pretty much turning into my diary... for now anyways.
It's currently 11:26pm here and I've been trying to write poems since 7:30pm (with breaks of course). Honestly, it's so difficult to find inspirations and to choose the right words. So, my advice would be to write everything that comes to mind and start from there. I did this a few times and the second time, I ended up with:

I hit my leg
I hit my nose
I start to bleed
Like a waterfall

It sucks to be
A clumsy bee
[...]

Totally random, but hey, it sounds pretty good... I guess. haha.

But I ended up writing about LOVE because that's where I'm more creative.

I'm literally obsessed with All I Ask by Adele and You Don't Own Me by Grace. It's crazy. I don't think I'll ever know what are the types of music I like to listen to. It really depends on my mood really; sometimes I would listen to heavy metal, other times I'd listen to old 70s, 80s and 90s songs. So, it all depends.

And about today, I actually planned to reach the 100 pages mark of Lolita, but that didn't happen because school and I was with my friend most of the time. Hopefully I'll be able to read more tomorrow.

Okay, enough for now. This is totally random. I might write an update again tomorrow.

Currently Reading

Hey!
I have three more weeks of school!!!! YAY!
I'm trying to not stress myself out. It's currently 2:07am and I can't sleep, so I decided to write about what I'm currently reading.

So, based on my currently-reading shelf on Goodreads, I'm reading Lolita and A Little Life. Besides those two books, I'm listening to the audiobook version of The Siren by Kiera Cass and honestly the girl's voice sounds like Barbie's. lol.
I also started reading Tatiana and Alexander by Paullina Simons, but I haven't picked it up in two weeks.

I have a ton of unread books on my shelf and I still don't know what to read that will help my reading challenge. I need a quick read, but I'm not really in the mood for young adult and those are the ones I can read quickly.

What to do?

HELLO, again!

Hey readers!
Ah, it's been a while. I really really miss blogging and writing book reviews. Now that my semester is ending and summer is coming up, I'll start posting more on my blog.

I am planning to take two summer courses, so that I will only have six classes in my next two semesters. I just feel like seven is too much for me. I mean I can handle it, but there's always that one class that I do not focus on a lot because I have too much to do in other classes. Sooo... yeah. But I will still have time to read hopefully yes...yes.. I'll have time to read... It's only two classes...two intensive classes...ah.. we'll see.

Anyway, I'm currently behind my reading goal on goodreads and I'm a little stressed out with that. I will be participating in the upcoming readathons and hopefully that will help me catch up.

This Saturday is the Dewey's 24hour readathon and I'll be reading Possession by A.S. Byatt, Sweet Thing by Renee Carlino and Lolita by Nabokov.

Talk to you guys soon,

x

UPDATE: Changes!

Hey readers!
I'm sorry for being gone for a while. I won't make any excuses, I just wasn't motivated to blog. I want to make some changes on this blog and it might take a little while. First, I want to change my new year bookish resolution because I'm finding it impossible to accomplish all of the things I wanted to do at the beginning of the year.

I'm giving up the 2016 PopSugar Reading Challenge because right now, I'm doing a lot of challenges and it gets really confusing and stressful.

I will keep the 120 books in 2016 for now. However, it will probably change during the semester when I don't get enough time to read.

I will still buy less than 35 physical books this year and I'm actually doing pretty well on that because I haven't bought any books "for pleasure" yet.

I'll try to finish series that I have already started. I will give you guys an update on that probably during the summer or the end of the year.

Okay, so I haven't been doing the resolution "Write a book review/week". I'm completely failing. I'm just writing some book reviews on Goodreads right now.

The books I've received for review are still unread on my kindle/iBooks. I'm trying to really motivate myself to read them. I just don't want to read them when I don't feel like reading that genre because I might end up hating the book.

I'm still planning to reread some books and give books I've DNF'ed another chance.

I haven't started reading the Bible yet. Hopefully soon though.

Right now, I'm reading Magnus Chase by Rick Riordan. I like the story, but I'm not really in the mood for fantasy, so I'm not reading it as fast and I'm not quite motivated to read it when I get the chance.

I can't tell you when I'll be posting next since school just started for me.

I'm really active on instagram, so if you want to see what I'm up to, follow @biblioaddict.

That's it for now.

Have a good weekend! (:

It's soon Christmas and New Year !!!

Credits to the owner of this photo
Hey readers!
I can't believe it's almost December/Christmas again. The year past by so damn fast! I still remember when I was in my home basement with my family watching the countdown to the year 2015. I remember wishing I'd have another great year in 2015, since last year was a blast. Although, I have to say, 2015 wasn't so great but wasn't so bad either. It was just a long roller coaster ride. Oh well, it happens. I'm still really grateful for this year because I met new people, made some new friends and experienced new things.

I have a few new year's resolutions in mind, but I will write about them near the end of next month or maybe in January. We'll see.

Anyway, I just wanted to write about christmas and new year's a little bit. I'll write more about them in the next few weeks.

Hope you are all doing well,

Rochelle

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello everyone!
Happy Thanksgiving (:

I literally haven't been productive this weekend, but I still have another day off to catch up. I'm going to a football later today, but before that, I want to catch up on some school work. I also want to read more of Between The Lines by Jodi Picoult and Samantha Van Leer. I'm enjoying it so far and it sucks that I always have to put it down. Anyways, I'm quitting my part-time job next month because of some problems I have with my boss and with all the school work I have to do. I really suck at time management because I always procrastinate. I think I failed my english 101 midterm because I didn't really work on it as much as I did with my humanities course. I regret it now and I want to make sure it won't happen again. I'm a little all over the place with the amount of things I have to do, so that's why I'm leaving my job. I'll start working again eventually, but right now it's just hard to balance work and school. Not to mention, I started watching hockey again which occupies a big amount of my time, but I'm loving the season so far. My team won three straight and I can't be more than proud of them. Although, there are still some things they have to improve, but I'm happy they're winning. I'm going to watch the home opener at the stadium on Thursday, I really hope they win because if not, it will suck so bad. I feel really guilty because I'm watching hockey when I have 2473285793 work to do. But hey, I'm pro at procrastination! lol. Anyway, that's it for now. I hope you are all doing well.

OCTOBER PLANS/GOALS

Hello October Please be Good to me
http://www.harkuchwallpapers.com/hello-october-please-be-good-to-me.html
Hey readers!
Ah, it's been a while eh? I've been so busy... Well, I still am with midterm starting this week for me. I'm supposed to be studying, but I wanted to take a break and post here. If you guys didn't know, I participated in the RYBSAT readathon and I managed to read two books (Release Me by J. Kenner & Whatever Life Throws At You by Julie Cross). I wanted to write reviews on both of them, but didn't have time. Hopefully, after midterms, I'll be able to post more on this blog. Let me know if you guys have anything you want me to post about. For example: Study tips,  advice on how to find time to read, book buying ban tips or anything like that. I can film a video and upload it on my booktube account or I could just write about it here. Anyway, I hope you are all doing well and I'll talk to you guys soon (:

UPDATE: What happened and what's going on in my life

Hello,
I'm just going to talk about what's going on with me. You might not be interested in reading this, but I'm just going to write this because I'm on a study break and I wanted to talk to someone. You might be wondering why wouldn't I just talk to my friends? Well... I don't think they would care about what I'm going to say and they're probably busy with homework too. Anyways, without further a due, let's start with what happened this past week.

SCHOOL LIFE
As you all might know, I'm in my freshman year of college and heck I'm so overwhelmed with the workload I'm getting. Oh my! I'm currently taking seven courses: French, Humanities(Art & Philosophy), English 101, World Literature, Literary Movements, P.E. and Exploring Creativity. French is actually interesting because we're studying Greek Mythology. Humanities is driving me insane though because I have long texts to read and analyze. I mean that would've been fine if I didn't have three english courses where I have to do the exact same thing. So yeah, this past week was stressful, I was a little lost because I didn't know what homework should I do first or when should I start writing this essay for this class blablabla. I'm ok now I guess, but I still have a lot to do.

The great thing that happened though is that I finally made some friends! Haha. It's amazing how I can share my love for books to people who loves reading as well. In high school, I felt like I was the only bookworm and I didn't really have anyone to talk about books with, but now I do! So, that's COOL! :D

SOCIAL LIFE

Other than meeting new people in college, I hung out with my high school friends on Labor day. We went to the movies and was trying to choose a movie to watch. I was like "Please, let's not watch Man From U.N.C.L.E. because I'm going to dieeeeee." I mean seriously, Armie Hammer and Henry Cavill are like two of the most beautiful human beings that ever existed. Plus, HENRY CAVILL is like my ultimate celebrity crush! I told my friends that I would probably just swoon during the entire movie. But guess what? We ended up watching that movie. And guess what? I survived. lol.

After that, nothing really happened in my life. I was just home studying, eating or watching dramas. Speaking of dramas, let me talk about this new tv series I'm addicted to. If you didn't know already, I'm a pilipina and I watch a lot of teleseryes, but there's this one I'm watching right now and it's superrrrrr goood. It's about a girl from the Philippines who dreams to go to the U.S. to find her buried mother and to work there for her family who's in the Philippines. Then, when she flew to the U.S. for a singing contest, she encounters this boy, but they don't necessarily meet in a good way. They actually are annoyed with each other which is pretty funny and cute. Then, she's trying to stay in the U.S. to work, but she doesn't want to stay there illegally. After that, she meets this woman and she tells her that if she wants to stay in the country legally, she has to marry an American resident. That woman then introduces her nephew which is the boy she encountered earlier. At first they didn't want to get married because they hated each other. But since the girl needed to stay in the U.S. and the boy needed money, they finally agreed to get married and when the files will be approved, they would just get a divorce. What's happening now though is that they're falling for each other. The problem is, the girl's ex-boyfriend is the boy's cousin and they both don't want to hurt him.
I know I explain so badly, I apologize. hahaha.
They speak pilipino, but they speak a lot in English as well.
Title: On The Wings Of Love

BOOKISH LIFE:
Due to many school work, It's hard for me to read for pleasure. I only read books for school right now except one which is Divine Vices by Melissa Parkin. I have to review that book before the publication date which is in two weeks, so I'm reading that too. I'm trying to finish as many school work as I can this week, so I can do well in the RYBSAT Round 6, yes I'm participating in another read-a-thon even though I suck at it. But yeahhh, that's what's going in my life. I apologize with the writing errors I'm making, I'm just writing like I'm speaking to someone and not really focus on writing a good sentence. This is probably not a good example for a literature student. hehehe. Anyways, If you read the whole thing, I really appreciate it. If you didn't, that's fine too (:

Have a good week guys!

UPDATE: ON HIATUS!

not my picture, credits to the photo owner

Hello readers,
I hope you are all doing well. I am sorry for the lack of posts again. College life is driving me insane!!! I have so many books/texts to read. It's not that I don't like it, but I have to read a lot of things in a short period of time and it stresses me out. Today, I took a long break to just relax and read a fiction novel that I've been wanting to read for a while now (Twisted by Emma Chase). I'm almost done and I enjoyed 97% of it. I don't know if I'll write a review on it because I have a lot of homework to do. Other than that,  I'm also reading Divine Vices by Melissa Parkin. I'm taking my time on this ebook because I have to review it this month and so far I'm enjoying the relationship between the two main characters. I don't know if I mentioned that already, but yeah I laughed many times while reading their scenes.

THE SUNDAY POST!

Picture from college magazine: http://www.collegemagazine.com/thoughts-twentysomething-college-student/

Hello readers!
Sorry I haven't been posting much. I just started college last week and damn! It was overwhelming and I was really disorganized! X_X

I haven't been reading much as well. Actually, I haven't even read a book in a while. However, I'm going to read the books that I have to review for authors/publishers for the next few weeks. Those are my priorities right now along with the books I have to read for college.

I'm currently taking seven courses this semester, so I have a lot of essays and other school work to do for the next few months and I don't know if I will have time to post every day. I just want you guys to be aware of that.

Like I said, I'm going to read and review the books that was given to me in exchange for my honest opinion. I will be reading those for sure and that for the other books in my TBR pile... well... they will have to wait. :P

AND GUYS! My friend is going to give me his Harry Potter books for FREE! I can't believe it! I hope he doesn't change his mind though ahahha. I read the first book and wasn't a big fan, but I'm going to give it another try maybe I'll end up loving it after all (:

Have a great week,

Rochelle

This week's wrap-up/ UPDATE

Hello readers!
This week wasn't a big reading week, I only read one book because I was back in a reading slump just right at the end of the booktube-a-thon last week. However, I really enjoyed that one novel I read and I gave it a 5/5 stars. It is called 'Off The Page' by Jodi Picoult and Samantha Van Leer. I wrote a review on it on Goodreads. Click here to check it out.

I posted my tbr pile for the bout of books 14.0 yesterday and I don't know if I'm going to complete all the challenges I gave myself. Also, I will probably change my mind on some books and read other books than the ones in the list. That always happens to me during read-a-thons. Believe it or not guys, I love read-a-thons, but I'm not really good at it. Although, even if I fail each time, I keep on participating hahaha.

Anyways, have a nice weekend and I'll talk to you guys in my next post (:

BOOKTUBE-A-THON WRAP UP!

Hey readers!
So, I was trying to film a video, but I sounded so awkward every time. I'm just going to write a post about the book I read this past week because I'm better at writing than talking anyways. haha

On day 1 of the booktubeathon, I reread Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout and three short stories from the Grimm's Complete Fairytales. Reading those complete three challenges:

- Read a book with blue on the cover (Obsidian)
- Read a book by an author who shares the same first letter of your last name (Jennifer L. Armentrout)

- Read a book without letting go of it (Three short fairytales ;)

I also read Twilight Vol. 1 & 2 Graphic Novels. I read them in one sitting, so that also completes the challenge: Read a book without letting go of it.

Then finally, I read The Edge Of Never by J.A. Redmerski and I LOVED IT SO MUCH! It completes the challenge: Read a book you really want to read. This book was amazing and I gave it a 5/5 stars on Goodreads. I'm thinking of writing a review on it here on my blog.

Sadly, I didn't complete all the challenges, but I'm glad I read at least 5ish books in one week.

I hope everyone had a wonderful booktubeathon!!!

That's it for now (:

READING SLUMP!

Hello readers!
I hope everyone had a nice weekend.
Mines wasn't so bad outside my reading life. I have to say though that I'm so disappointed in myself! Why? Because I didn't complete all the challenges of the #booktubeathon. Reading slumps sucks so bad! I also forgot to post the release blitz of 'Dangerous Intentions by Dori Lavelle' and I'M SO GUILTY because of it! Dori, if you ever see this, I'm so sorry :(

I really need to write everything down so, I don't forget anything. I'll try my best to not let this happen again.

There's another #readathon coming up next week. It's starting on August 17th if I'm not mistaken. It's the Bout Of Book 14.0

For those who are not familiar with this readathon, it's basically a week long readathon created by Amanda over at On The Book Bender. I participated last year and I'm actually really proud of what I've accomplished during that week. I don't remember doing any challenges, so no pressure. Read whatever you like (:

That's it for today.

This week's TBR/ UPDATE!

Hey, readers!

Ahh' It's nice to blog again. It's been a while. I've been really busy this week, I had to schedule some post so I didn't forget them. I was also in a terrible reading slump. Right now, I can read a little, but I don't know if I can read for many hours straight like usually. I hope I can get back to my normal reading mode in time for the BOOKTUBE-A-THON!

My tbr for that readathon is on my 'READATHON' page or if you want to watch my video, you can watch it here. I will post my review on 'Dangerous Intentions' by Dori Lavelle soon. It's actually on Goodreads already, but I'll post it here on my blog as well.

This week, I will try my best to post some reading updates, if not I'll be filming them. I'm also going to film a TOP 5 favorite book covers so stay tuned on my booktube channel.

This week's TBR!

Hello, readers!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

I just want to give you guys an update on the two read-a-thons I'm participating in for this last week of July.

Damn. Time flies, next thing you know it's Christmas!

-

For the #monthlongreadathon that started on July 22nd and will end this Wednesday, I managed to finish two books in my tbr pile (I Want It That Way by Ann Aguirre and Dangerous Intentions by Dori Lavelle). I will write a review on Dori Lavelle's book and post it soon, so stay tuned.

For the #TBRTAKEDOWN 2.0, I managed to finish Dangerous Intentions by Dori Lavelle and read Think & Grow by Napoleon Hill before the readathon even started, so I don't think that counts.

I am going to change my tbr for that read-a-thon a little. I won't be reading The Scarlet Letter because I still need to finish Pride & Prejudice, so I'll count that as a book that is out of my comfort zone. Sooooooo yeaaaaaah.

This week, I need to finish three books and they are The Kiss Of Deception by Mary E. Pearson, Divine Vices by Melissa Parkin and Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen.

-

What coming up?

  • BOOKTUBE-A-THON 2015 TBR PILE/VIDEO (Booktube channel here)
  • Dangerous Intentions by Dori Lavelle review
  • #TBRTAKEDOWN 2.0 WRAP-UP
  • TOP 10 favorite book covers video

WEEKLY WRAP-UP!

Hello readers,
This week, I managed to finish three books.

The first book that I finished reading was City Of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare. This is the fourth book of the Mortal Instruments series. I didn't give a 5/5 stars like the previous books, but I gave it a 4.5/5, which is still pretty good. There were just a few things that annoyed me while reading it and that's why I couldn't give it a perfect score.

The second book that I finished was I Want It That Way by Ann Aguirre. This is a new adult novel that talks about a college student who falls in love with the single dad who lives downstairs. I really liked the plot and that's the reason why I actually read it, but there were some scenes where I just speed read. I gave this book a 3/5 stars.

The third book I read was Think & Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. This is a business book and I learned a lot from it. I definitely recommend it to anyone. Since I finished this before the #TBRTAKEDOWN 2.0 readathon, I will be reading Pride & Prejudice for the challenge 'Read a book that is out of your comfort zone'.

So, that's my wrap up for this week. Thank you for reading (:

This week's TBR!

I hope to finish reading PULSE by Gail McHugh, book two of the Collide series. I also wwant to finish reading the Edge Of Never by J.A. Redmerski, The Conspiracy of Us by Maggie Hall and Grey by E.L James.

I might not finish all of them because I'll be busy this week. Although, I'll read as much as I can.
