Saturday: Weekly Wrap Up!

This week started pretty well. I started and finished reading Legend by Marie Lu. This is the first book in the Legend trilogy. However, since school started last Tuesday, my teachers gave me all the dates of my exams  and it turns out...I have a ton next week, the week after that...until the end of January. I'M SO STRESSED OUT! Remember my bout of books TBR? Yeah, forget about that because I'm completely failing.

I managed to read Prodigy the second book of the trilogy...at least a hundred pages. I also started reading Pride & Prejudice for the 2015 reading challenge but I still haven't finished it.

I also started one of the books I have to read for review so that's pretty cool.

This week wasn't a big reading week for me. Hopefully I can catch up next week. Have a nice weekend everyone :)

Review:These Broken Stars(Starbound #1) by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner

Genre: Sci-Fi, YA, Romance
Publication date: December 10th, 2013
Publisher: Hyperion
Read: January 2015
Pages: 374
Rating: 5/5

Summary:
It's a night like any other on board the Icarus. Then, catastrophe strikes: the massive luxury spaceliner is yanked out of hyperspace and plummets into the nearest planet. Lilac LaRoux and Tarver Merendsen survive. And they seem to be alone.

Lilac is the daughter of the richest man in the universe. Tarver comes from nothing, a young war hero who learned long ago that girls like Lilac are more trouble than they’re worth. But with only each other to rely on, Lilac and Tarver must work together, making a tortuous journey across the eerie, deserted terrain to seek help.

Then, against all odds, Lilac and Tarver find a strange blessing in the tragedy that has thrown them into each other’s arms. Without the hope of a future together in their own world, they begin to wonder—would they be better off staying here forever?

Everything changes when they uncover the truth behind the chilling whispers that haunt their every step. Lilac and Tarver may find a way off this planet. But they won’t be the same people who landed on it.

--

A timeless love story, These Broken Stars sets into motion a sweeping science fiction series of companion novels. The Starbound Trilogy: Three worlds. Three love stories. One enemy.

My review:

"But she's here, she's mine. I'm hers."

Let's start with Tarver shall we? Isn't he amazing? No wonder people see him as a hero. I liked almost everything about him. I like how he smiled, how he teased, how he handled the whole situation...Honestly? I wouldn't mind getting stuck in an alien planet with him. I feel like with him, I'd feel safe. The one thing that bothered me in his case is how he had a hard time believing Lilac. At some point, I understood why he didn't believe her but most of the time I just wanted to roll my eyes at him and be like "Seriously? Listen to her!!!"

"If you die," I whisper, my eyes on his, "then I will too."

Lilac, daughter of the richest man in the universe, I adored her but when she started acting mean and stubborn around Tarver, I was like "What the hell? What's your problem?" Then I understood afterwards and It didn't matter anymore. I learned to really love her character because of how brave she was, knowing how she lost someone she really loved from her past. I liked how she finally started trusting and loving Tarver. Since the moment they realized they both liked each other, oh damn, I had butterflies in my stomach every time.

This story kind of reminds me of the Titanic but less cheesy and it's in outer space. I love how the writers took their time with the character development. Their writing was amazing and I'm happy I finally read this book. After reading Alienated, I wanted to read more YA Sci-Fi novels and this one didn't disappoint me. I'm really looking forward on reading the next book which is called "This Shattered World" in the next few months. I still have to read a ton of books before I can buy more books so... I can't read it yet.

Sunday: Books I'm hoping to read this week

Legend by Marie Lu:
I've been wanting to read this for such a longtime now but never got the chance. I bought it a few days ago along with the two other books of this Legend Trilogy. I heard so many good things about it so I can't wait to finally read book.

Prodigy(Book 2) & Champion(Book 3) by Marie Lu

World After (Sequel to AngelFall) by Susan EE:
I read Angelfall last year and I didn't read this after reading the first book because I had other books that I really wanted to read. I was also in a "Contemporary romance" mode so I didn't want to force myself to read a paranormal story when I wasn't in the mood.

Throne Of Glass by Sarah J. Maas:
Everyone who have read this book loved it. I actually wanted to read it a couple of times but I always keep changing my mind at the last minute whenever I'm at a bookstore. I'm not sure I'm going to like it, I don't really know but I have to give it a chance.

Have a nice week everyone :)

My review:

OMG. OMG. OMG.

I CAN'T EVEN...THE FEELS!!!

*Breathe,Rochelle, Breathe*

"She was enchanting. Enchanting? Just start spouting poetry and shit while you're at it."
Scrolling down my news feed on facebook like every other night and saw this...
Wait. That caught my attention. Then, I read what Rebecca Yarros wrote and found out she was giving away 10 copies of her ebook so I decided to enter because why the hell not? The guy in the pic was hot and the quote was tempting. Did I just say that? Yes, I did. Though, I didn't expect to receive a copy because I rarely win giveaways. I just had a feeling I would...

I was happy I won and now I'm REALLY GLAD I won because I got the chance to read a wonderful love story that I probably wouldn't have known if I didn't win the giveaway. And by the way, It's not even the love scenes that made me love this book, it's much more than that.

"She was going to rip me apart. And I was going to let her."
I read the summary before I read the book because I had no idea what was the story about. The summary didn't really match what I predicted in my head and it didn't really match the quote in the pic so I ignored the summary and just go with the flow.

...
This book blew my mind, touched my heart, made me smile, made me laugh, made me squeak, made me shout... Who am I kidding? This book was FANTASTIC! Why is this book not on the best selling list? Someone tell me why. If you didn't know already, I love NA and my favorite author is Abbi Glines. If she's a best selling author, I think Rebecca Yarros will be too if she keeps writing stories like this one. No kidding. You might think I'm exaggerating but I'm not lying. No one forced me to write a review, Rebecca Yarros didn't give me a copy of this book so I can read and review it. As you can see, other people loved it too, so go pick it up, it's only 0.99$. You never know, when more people read this and it gets more and more popular, the price might go up and you'll regret not buying it while it was cheaper. Trust me, it's worth reading.

"Sometimes there are things bigger, greater than yourself, and I'm sorry that you haven't found that yet. But I have.
Jagger was not the man I expected him to be. I mean, physically yes but it was his personality that surprised me and won my heart. When I saw that image on facebook and read that quote, I expected him to be dominant, mean at first but when he meets the girl, he'll change. But I was wrong and I'm glad. He was such a nice guy right from the start, very smart and I just didn't see him as a player at all. I loved everything about him. I loved that he played hockey because I'm a HUGE hockey fan. Oh, yeah...The only thing I didn't like is the part where he wore a Boston bruins hat if I remember correctly because I hate the bruins...I'm a HABS fan so you get the thing if you're a hockey fan too. I also liked the fact that he wanted to go to school. Guys who takes their studies seriously are hard to find.

And Paisley? I loved her so damn much. I loved how honest she was and how she was commited to Will. She was great except when it comes to her heart condition, she could be really stubborn but I enjoyed reading the fight scenes, I think it was necessary and brought more debt to the story. She and Jagger were really cute together I can't even describe their connection without squeaking ahhh!

I loved all the other characters: Morgan, Josh, Grayson and Ember, they were such good friends to Jagger and Paisley. I knew from the beginning William Carter was a nice guy, maybe he was just mean because he was jealous of Jagger but other than that, he was a really nice friend and boyfriend.

I could say I loved everything and this book was perfect but there is one tiny little thing I have to criticize and that's Paisley's mom. She was so annoying! Like at one point I thought she was going to change her mind but damn, she was so stubborn!

I never expected to love this book as much as I LOVE it right now. I didn't even hesitate when I had to rate it on Goodreads, If I could give it a 10 out of 5 stars, I would. I loved how it started, how it happened and how it ended. I admire the author Rebecca Yarros for writing such an impeccable love story. I didn't have any question after I read it. Do I want more? Yes, I want more stories like this. I definitely recommend this book to all NA/Romance fans! So, What are you waiting for? Buy the ebook!

About the author:
Rebecca Yarros is a hopeless romantic and lover of all things chocolate, coffee, and Paleo. In addition to being a mom, military wife, and blogger, she can never choose between Young Adult and New Adult fiction, so she writes both. She’s a graduate of Troy University, where she studied European history and English, but still holds out hope for an acceptance letter to Hogwarts. Her blog, The Only Girl Among Boys, has been voted the Top Military Mom Blog the last two years, and celebrates the complex issues surrounding the military life she adores.

When she’s not writing, she’s tying on hockey skates for her kids, or sneaking in some guitar time. She is madly in love with her army-aviator husband of eleven years, and they’re currently stationed in Upstate NY with their gaggle of rambunctious kiddos and snoring English Bulldog, but she would always rather be home in Colorado.

Review:If You Believe by Mya O'Malley

Blurb:
Sometimes love only comes once in a lifetime. For some lucky people, it is possible to love again.
Melody and Jack had shared an unforgettable love story that abruptly came to an end. Melody, left picking up the pieces, finds herself alone years later, with no hope or desire to date again.  With the holiday season approaching, Melody finds it particularly difficult to get Jack out of her thoughts.
Jack isn’t sure if he’s an angel or a ghost, but his mind is set on one thing only, finding a new love for Melody by Christmas Eve at midnight.  Easier said than done, with many obstacles to tackle, Jack underestimates how difficult the task is. With conflicting emotions, Jack takes it upon himself to find a man for a woman he still loves.
With the clock ticking as the holidays approach, this charming story of finding love the second time around will have you laughing and crying, but ultimately, it will have you believing in true love.
My review:

*Received a copy of this book for an honest review*
What a beautiful, heartwarming story. The writing was absolutely spectacular. I loved how short it was and how it felt like I've read more than 200 pages. A lot of things were happening which made me not want to stop reading. I loved the characters as well, especially Jack and Adrian.

What I liked about Jack was how he loved Melody so much that even if he was already gone, he still wanted what was best for his wife. He would do anything to make her happy again. As for Adrian, he was such a sweetheart. I have to admit though, how he liked Melody right away was a little bit weird but the fact that he was willing to fight for his love for her was brave and sweet in my opinion. It proved that he really loved, cared and understood her.

Like Dori Lavelle's books, all the characters were so likable and the story was short but it felt like it was longer because there were so many actions. I really think Jack and Melody's story is worth reading. It's short but amazing things are happening in this book so I recommend it to anyone who loves romance.
