To want what you’re not supposed to have…
She is only nineteen.
She is his new stepfather’s daughter.
She is still naïve and innocent due to spending the last three years taking care of her sick mother.
But for twenty-four year old Rush Finlay, she is the only thing that has ever been off limits. His famous father’s guilt money, his mother’s desperation to win his love, and his charm are the three reasons he has never been told no.
Blaire Wynn left her small farmhouse in Alabama, after her mother passed away, to move in with her father and his new wife in their sprawling beach house along the Florida gulf coast. She isn’t prepared for the lifestyle change and she knows she’ll never fit into this world. Then there is her sexy stepbrother who her father leaves her with for the summer while he runs off to Paris with his wife. Rush is as spoiled as he is gorgeous. He is also getting under her skin. She knows he is anything but good for her and that he’ll never be faithful to anyone. He is jaded and has secrets Blaire knows she may never uncover but even knowing all of that…
Blaire just may have fallen too far.
My review
Blaire is actually 19 but I felt like she was much older. She's so mature considering the fact that she took care of her sick mother alone. She's tough and determined and I like that about her.
Let me just say that Rush Finlay is so damn sexy. I can imagine his face so easily. He's such a player though which in fact is not my type. He was also mean at the beginning and I wasn't rooting for him from the moment he appeared in a scene till the end of this book. I just thought he was attractive but I liked the other men better.
Grant - Rush's step brother is gorgeous and an absolute sweet heart. He's the first person who have been nice to Blaire since the beginning. I was rooting for him to be with Blaire the moment the two met.
Woods - At first I was freaked out by him. The way he flirts was just creepy probably because I'm not used to flirting, like I don't know how that type of conversation go. Then I got to know him better and I was completely attracted to him. I started rooting for him then.
Nan - Total b#%^* She's so annoying and mean. Like when you see her, you smell trouble but I'm still hoping she'll change her attitude by the end of this series.
Abe - I think he was actually nice, minus the fact that he abandon Blaire and her mom. I knew from the way he was acting that he didn't mean to leave Blaire and her mother and that he had a big reason on why he left. So I didn't really hate him.
Cain - He's Blaire's ex-boyfriend. He wasn't very supportive when Blaire needed him the most and he regretted it at the end. I was rooting for him too somehow. Actually, I was rooting for everyone besides Rush and I'm not quite sure why.
Bethy - She's such a great friend to Blaire. I don't know how Blaire could survive without her and Jimmy. Without them, she doesn't really have any other close friends whom she could run to when she's down.
Jimmy - He's funny. He doesn't really show that he's homosexual in public but he is. He's a close friend of Blaire.
This is the first book I read by Abbi Glines and she didn't disappoint me. Her writing is fantastic. I like how this novel is written. I like her characters as well and I'm planning on reading her other books.
I wanted to buy this book a couple of times at the beginning of 2014 but I never picked it up until May. The reason why is I think the price is a bit too high. I usually buy books that are between 10-15$ but this one was 20 bucks! At the end, it was worth it. I love love love this book and I will definitely reread it in the future. I recommend this to all the readers who reads New Adult Romance.
